LUIGi: A Goal-Driven Autonomy Agent Reasoning with Ontologies
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper we present LUIGi, a goal-driven autonomy (GDA) agent that uses ontological representations. Like other GDA agents, LUIGi reasons about (1) its own expectations when following a course of action, (2) the discrepancies between these expectations and actual situations encountered, (3) explanations for those discrepancies and (4) new goals based on the explanations. Unlike other GDA agents, LUIGi uses ontologies to reason about these four GDA elements enabling inference capabilities relating high-level concepts with low-level chunks of information. We demonstrate LUIGi’s capabilities in the context of a real-time strategy game.

Goal-Driven Autonomy with Semantically-Annotated Hierarchical Cases
We present LUiGi-H a goal-driven autonomy (GDA) agent. Like other GDA agents it introspectively reasons about its own expectations to formulate new goals. Unlike other GDA agents, LUiGi-H uses cases consisting of hierarchical plans and semantic annotations of the expectations of those plans. Expectations indicate conditions that must be true when parts of the plan are executed. Using an ontolog...
متن کاملGoal-Driven Autonomy for Responding to Unexpected Events in Strategy Simulations
To operate autonomously in complex environments, an agent must monitor its environment and determine how to respond to new situations. To be considered intelligent, an agent should select actions in pursuit of its goals, and adapt accordingly when its goals need revision. However, most agents assume that their goals are given to them; they cannot recognize when their goals should change. Thus, ...
متن کاملMotivations and Goal-Directed Autonomy
As we move towards a richer model of computation based on interactions among autonomous agents in lieu of the more traditional numeric batch processing model, it is necessary to devise techniques and abstractions for the development of such autonomous agents. The ability to generate, reason about, and select the means to achieve explicit goals is critical for autonomous agents, the so called go...
متن کاملSemantic Cooperation and Knowledge Reuse by Using Autonomous Ontologies
Several proposals have been put forward to support distributed agent cooperation in the Semantic Web, by allowing concepts and roles in one ontology be reused in another ontology. In general, these proposals reduce the autonomy of each ontology by defining the semantics of the ontology to depend on the semantics of the other ontologies. We propose a new framework for managing autonomy in a set ...
متن کاملGoal-Driven Autonomy with Case-Based Reasoning
The vast majority of research on AI planning has focused on automated plan recognition, in which a planning agent is provided with a set of inputs that include an initial goal (or set of goals). In this context, the goal is presumed to be static; it never changes, and the agent is not provided with the ability to reason about whether it should change this goal. For some tasks in complex environ...
